Alysha Cox's Missionary Blog

Yesterday was a big day for Alysha as she took out her temple endowments at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple.  This was one of the last big items on her missionary preparation list.  It was a beautiful day!  I'm hoping to be able to take her back to the temple a couple more times before she actually starts her mission. Added a white layer for this big step on her missionary quilt.  

 It is Sept. 1st today in a little over a month, a little less than 6 weeks, or 39 days Alysha's mission will officially start with Home MTC.  In 2 months on Nov. 1st she will be flying to Indiana.  It feels like a long time from now but the past 2 months of preparation time have slipped by so quickly that I'm afraid the next 5 1/2 weeks will be gone in an instant.  The past 2 months have been constant shopping trips to find, clothes, shoes, luggage--etc., etc., etc!!!  I never knew how much work and how expensive it was to get a missionary ready to go--it has been exhausting!  We have most of the stuff now, but, some things like winter coats and other last minute stuff we have to wait because they aren't in the stores yet.   Along with all the physical stuff, we have also been helping her with the spiritual stuff, like teaching her the temple preparation classes and getting her ready to take out her temple endowments in 2 weeks!  I decided t...

 Alysha received her mission call on June 29th, 2021.  She awaited anxiously until that evening to open it.  I was excited for her but pretty nervous about where she was going to be sent.  I really wanted her to stay in the United States, but, I received a feeling of extreme peace when she was in her interview with the Stake President that Heavenly Father was going to send her to where he needed her the most and that everything would be okay.  So I was accepting to wherever she would be called, but I'll admit my heart dropped just a little bit when she messed up reading her call and I thought she said the country of India, I was so relieved to find out that it was the Indianapolis, Indiana mission instead!!  She was going to start home MTC Oct. 11th and enter the Provo MTC on Oct. 20th--her 21st birthday!  So that gave us 3 months to get her prepared. Look out Indiana she is coming your way in 3 months!!
