Week 30--7 Months as a Missionary!!

 Hello Everyone!

This week was crazy! It was so fun! It was also longer than usual because I was able to go to the temple today! We had to switch pday to Wednesday to go to the temple, which was a little rough, but so worth it to go to the temple. Felt so at home!

This week we have a great example of Indiana weather! We had stopped to sit on a bench to do some contacting, then it started to drizzle, so I pulled out my umbrella then the storms came down and the rains went up and we got soaked! There was a member that lived nearby so we biked quickly and took cover in their garage and the kids showed us their amazing cosplay weapons they'd made 🤣 it was so cool.

We also had zone conference! One thing we talked about was focusing on the things we can control, because there are definity a lot of things we have 0 control over, and so we should focus our energy on the things we can control. It's actually super nice to let go of things you can't control.

We've been busy little bees this last week. We tried to teach Derrick the lesson he'd need to know before getting baptized, but then he expressed to us that after he had invited his family to his baptism, they had expressed that they weren't supportive, and so, Derrick told us he wasn't ready to switch churches. But then, we had a lesson while on exchanges. We planned on talking about unsupportive family and how to make it work, etc, but instead, we taught an amazing lesson about the plan of salvation! We were able to talk about how when we're baptized by proper authority, we're able to enter the Celestial Kingdom to live with God again. As we helped him see the eternal perspective, it seemed to touch him in a way. It was the perfect lesson for the situation. We invited him to pray about the truth of what we had talked about. Derrick wants to be baptized. But he also loves his family and doesn't want to disappoint them. Keep Derrick in your prayers, that he'll have the courage to start the covenant path!

At church I was so surprised by how many names I knew. I love Eagle Creek ward! There are just so so many awesome people in this ward. Also, a member of the bishopric found us and gave us a melon. Some of the young women asked why we had a melon and we asked what we should name it. Lol. So we named it Elder Gilbert and even made him a tag! We are just too hilarious Ya'll.

We met so many people this week. Lots of new faces and people to teach. Hopefully more updates on them next week!

Okay, one of those people was Bree. Her husband answered the door and was like, "Okay, one sec" and then Bree came to the door and invited us in. We taught her the restoration. As we shared the first vision, she seemed so touched. That account is so powerful! Why? Because it's true. The Holy Ghost testifies of Truth.

Also we visited Chasity and had an awesome lesson. She told us we always come on time. She'd been struggling to let go of some bad friends and was so intrigued by the Book of Mormon, it just made sense to her, even the timing of 1820. We invited her to the relief society activity tonight. Hopefully she comes!

What a great week!

Love you all!

It's hard to believe that Alysha has been on her mission for 7 months now.  In 2 more months she will be half way through her mission!!!  The mission quilt was getting way too large so I am now only crocheting 1 row for every 3 weeks and then a yellow row for the 1 month mark.
