Weekly Email

 Hi Everyone!

This week was honestly...Meh not my favorite. I'll tell you about my very bad no good day in a minute. But yesterday was AMAZING!

So it all begins with a visit to a family we met, the Mom speaks Hatian Creole, but the daughters Ruth and Lunia can translate for us. When we stopped by, we talked with the daughters and gave them copies of the Book of Mormon and we'll hopefully stop by again sometime this week, when the parents are home again. That was pretty sweet.

Then we had an awesome member lesson with the Fords.

THEN we head to a lesson and stop to talk to this guy, Natnel who's sitting outside. He was so humble, and it was so so refreshing. We told him about the book of Mormon and gave him a copy. He speaks Tirigan? Another language. Anyway, a little bit of a language barrier, but he does speak English too. But he was so excited about the book of Mormon. He invited us inside his home and we talked to the rest of his family about the Book of Mormon. (The Dad was like, no way brosettas, you can go) But Natnel is solid. We'll meet with him again this Friday!!

Okay if that wasn't awesome enough.. AND THEN, our friend Ogo, that we taught a few months ago and never have been able to have a second lesson with, was home! We were able to have a great lesson about faith and read in the Book of Mormon again. She seemed glad to see us even though we haven't met in a while. When we originally met Ogo, her and her family were having a hard day. Her son was distraught and Sister Baumgartner was like, "Can we pray with you?"  Ogo was like, Yes! and I think that instance solidified in her mind that we are servants of God, and she has always welcomed us in. Idk, it all kinda works together, the pieces really do connect. Anyway. Ogo is awesome.

AND THEN, we knocked on Shanita's door, and she didn't answer. But it was already almost 9 pm, so it wasn't a big deal.

Haha, anyway, that was among the BEST NIGHTS EVER of my whole mission <3

We also met this lady named Vikki while we were walking in the hot weather to an appointment. She was like, "What are you doing out here, it's hot! Where is your water?" (We actually were both out of water hehe oops). We ended up having a great conversation with her and will hopefully do a bible study soon. We talked with her on the phone yesterday and she's still interested and we can hopefully work it into her schedule.

Derrick is literally so hard to get a lesson scheduled with.

Toneisha might be moving back this week...

Also I have to tell you about my little shenanigan. Haha. So we serve at this food pantry and there was this picture of an animal signed by Rafael. I adored this picture. Haha, so I recreated Rafael and sneakily hung it up on the fridge. This was several weeks ago. Then I did more drawings of Rafael and hung them up another day when no one was looking. I know this is pretty high intensity pranking lol. But on Friday we were asked if we'd made them and my poker face was the worst. Busted. Haha, but it was amazing while the mystery lasted.

Anyway. I guess I'll tell you about my worst day ever. We biked like five miles to get to a member's house and paused to eat lunch at a lake. But then I realized my phone was missing. We searched up and down this hill, and finally started walking back the way we'd biked. Of course then it starts raining. I was praying pretty hard. Eventually we find it (it must have popped out while we were biking : 0. So so grateful we found it. But then we get texts that we're doing district council over zoom (which ruins all our plans for biking and getting home). We did it over zoom because some of our Elders have Covid, and another missionary was feeling a little unwell too. So we decided to do our lesson (that we had biked part way to) online too. So we biked like 9-10 miles for nothing :'\ It was a very long wet day that included crying next to a lake. Haha, definitely a humbling day.

I also saw this kid who was walking with his Mom, when it started to rain. The kid is like "Is it raining?" His voice was so overwhelmed. His Mom, is like "Yes, let's get to the car" and keeps walking. The little boy just sinks down to the ground and starts to whimper. Haha, it was the funniest thing. But as I watched that, I had this thought: This is you. Haha, sometimes when I get discouraged, or it starts "raining" you have to keep walking because you can get out of the rain, and it won't last forever.

But we also had a chance to listen to President Nelson's devotional for young adults last Sunday. That was amazing, and so beautiful. The words that resonated with me were these: Suprise their doubting heart with your faithful heart. It's a lot like Helaman 6:6 "Thus we see that the Lord began to pour out his Spirit upon the Lamanites, because of their easiness and willingness to believe in his words." I want to be like these people. I want to be easy and willing to believe God's word.

One more story from the week. We meet weekly with this sister in the ward, Mary. She's the cutest thing. Another ward member, Carla was there too. We ended up doing a mini testimony meeting and it was so powerful! The spirit was so strong and it was such a cool experience. I loved it.

Okay, so there's the highlights, and a "lowlight?" from the week.

Love you all!
