Week 7--Thanksgiving Blessings

Image
It was so fun to video chat with Alysha on Thanksgiving where her grandparents and older sister, brother-in-law, and niece got to see her too.  I love that we get to hear about her weekly adventures every Monday.  Monday has become my favorite day of the week!   Alysha's message for Week 7:   Hi Everyone! The Ups & Downs of Missionary Life Week 5 & 6

Hey ya'll! Didn't email last p-day! Sorry but it was a crazy day! So I'll cover 2 weeks. Last week our furnace broke! But it's fixed and working now! Accidentally broke the word of Wisdom! But we've repented now! Had 2 fake referrals! But I'm almost over it now. We went to a relief society activity, and that was so powerful!! Wish our investigators could have came. Also, we called up some random numbers to try to share messages about Jesus Christ and found Chris! The miracle is that the second call/lesson I fumbled through, the miracle is that she still wanted to hear from us again! (God can use the weak and simple!) Then on the 3rd call with her, we talked about the Book of Mormon. We found out she lives in Florida, but she is excited to learn more. She called us this week to tell us that the Florida Elders brought her a copy of the BoM! I'm excited for her, but wish she was in Indy so we could teach her! K For this week, we had zone conference! That was ...

Week 5--The MIA Email

Image
So, Alysha forgot to send a group email for this week, so I'm left trying to think of things to write about from her video call with us.  But, even on the video call her internet cuts in and out so we miss a lot of the things she is sharing with us.  She enjoys the friendly people in the one ward that she and her companion are in charge of.  She said most of the people in Indiana are really friendly.  Their biggest adventure this week was when their furnace started making really loud noises and then died.  It was cold and snowy that day so they were brought space heaters, but, the space heaters ended up blowing a fuse in the apartment so they lost their power so they were only able to turn the space heaters on low which wasn't warm enough so they did a sleep over at some of the other sister missionaries apartment. They haven't tried door to door trackting yet just follow ups on social media and phone trackting to share scriptures with people that they have...

Goodbye Utah--Welcome to Indiana Part 2

Hi Everyone!     I was going to record another video, but I'm too sleepy. I guess I'll type it this week...    First week in Indiana was busy! The flight in was pretty awe-inspiring. In Indiana we do both in-person and online finding and teaching.    My trainer, Sister Kimmerle is pretty sweet! She is so fun.    A picture is worth a thousand words, so here's 8,000 words to finish my email.    Love ya'll,  Sister Alysha Cox      Mtc district  🥲😭   Got lucky with a window seat Last night with Sis. Kloepfer 😭 Comps at the temple!   Sitting by the mission office  Sister Kimmerle and me!  Indiana! Seesters

The Mission Begins in Indiana Part 1

Alysha had an early morning start at 2 am as she got ready to board the MTC bus at 3 am to get to the airport to fly to Indiana Monday November 1st.  I was grateful for a picture sent to me by a random stranger of their group at the Salt Lake Airport so I at least knew she had made it to that point.  We didn't get anymore news until about 4 pm when she was able to contact us that she and all her luggage had arrived safely in Indiana.  We also received an email from her Mission President and his wife later that night confirming that she had made it okay and that they were all together at the mission home.  We received one other email that Alysha was in her first area of Westfield, Indiana with a new companion.  Now we have to wait because we don't know when her p-day is and when we will get to talk to her next.  We're grateful she made it to Indiana okay, but, we're a little sad that she is so far away!
