Alysha's Weekly Mission Update

Image
This week was good! Did some knocking in the rain, teaching at the library, eating chicken hearts, just the usual.    Our friend is working on quitting smoking and we put him on date again, but then we also talked about the temple and put him on date to go to the temple after baptism, I think expanding his vision to after baptism will be helpful!     I love this talk from President Eyring, O Remember, Remember, and a paragraph from it: I wrote down a few lines every day for years. I never missed a day no matter how tired I was or how early I would have to start the next day. Before I would write, I would ponder this question: “Have I seen the hand of God reaching out to touch us or our children or our family today?” As I kept at it, something began to happen. As I would cast my mind over the day, I would see evidence of what God had done for one of us that I had not recognized in the busy moments of the day. As that happened, and it happened often, ...

Hey Everyone! This week I got to go to a baptism in Muncie with some of our friends from Anderson and see some old friends. That was awesome! Then I had my last zone conference. It was kinda sad. I love these missionaries, and it just kinda started to hit that I'm nearing the end. We started singing How Firm a Foundation, which was the last song we sang at the MTC before leaving for Indiana. It hit powerful then, and it hit powerful this week. I was a little too emotional to sing most of the song, but I listened, until we came to verse 7.  This is what the verses say:  How firm a foundation, ye Saints of the Lord,       Is laid for your faith in his excellent word!       What more can he say than to you he hath said,       Who unto the Savior, who unto the Savior,       Who unto the Savior for refuge have fled? Fear not, I am with thee; oh, be not dismayed,       For I am...

Hey Everyone. This week was AMAZING!  It was hard to leave Muncie, but Anderson is AMAZING! The members are so engaged in the work. Sister Hill, my little Greenie is also awesome.  We got a flat tire on our second night in the dark and in the rain, but Sister Hill changed it in like 10 minutes! Haha, that was funny.  We also had a lesson with a friend who is deaf and I got to use sign language! It was so awesome!! I've only got to use that for one other lesson on my mission. We have another lesson this Saturday. We also stopped by a restaurant we never visit just to get some phone calls done, and our ward mission leader showed up. It was perfect timing for a little meeting. The Lord set up a little meeting for us. :) I was watching some Bible videos and I just loved this one and wanted to share it with yall!   Hey Everyone!    This week Steve got to come start his family history! It was so cool as he had nothing, then 20 minutes later he had a good sized family tree on family search. We got to teach several friends about the temple this week. This video is so powerful! Two Apostles Lead a Virtual Tour of the Rome Italy Temple https://media2.ldscdn.org/assets/news-and-public-affairs/newsroom-2019/2019-01-1000-two-apostles-lead-a-virtual-tour-of-the-rome-italy-temple-720p-eng.mp4   Temples were found in Christ's Church anciently, they are there again today.   I was thinking about how the temple and tabernacle were places of sacrifice, and 3 Nephi 9: 19-20 And ye shall offer up unto me no more the shedding of blood; yea, your sacrifices and your burnt offerings shall be done away, for I will accept none of your sacrifices and your burnt offerings.    20 And ye shall offer for a sacrifice unto me a broken heart and a contrite spirit. And whoso come...
